Challenges of Traditional Flooring in Yuanjiang TCM Hospital
Before the renovation, Yuanjiang TCM Hospital used traditional ceramic tiles for its floors, which failed to meet the rigorous demands of a medical environment. Firstly, the tiles lacked effective antibacterial properties, making it difficult to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus— a critical flaw in areas where infection control is paramount. Secondly, the tiles had poor wear resistance; frequent foot traffic from medical staff, patients, and mobile medical equipment led to frequent scratches and cracks, compromising the floor’s longevity. Thirdly, the inadequate slip resistance of traditional tiles posed a significant fall risk, especially for elderly patients and disabled individuals. Additionally, the porous surface of the tiles made them prone to dirt and stain accumulation, resulting in high daily cleaning and maintenance costs. These issues prompted the hospital to seek a more reliable flooring solution.
Why Homogeneous Through-Colour PVC Flooring Was Selected
After extensive research and on-site inspections, the hospital’s management team decided to adopt homogeneous through-colour PVC flooring.
